HOCKEY.

THE 'WEDNESDAY SIX-A-SIDE. The AYednesday Hockey Association concludcd its season yesterday afternoon with a six-a-side tournament, which was played at Karori, and won by the Hui Mai Club. The two best games wero those totween Karori and Pakelia A, and the final between Pakefia A and Hui Mai. The following are tho results:— First Round. Post and Telegraph v. Hereawa A.Ilcreaiva had all tho best of the game, Caterer scoring for them in each spoil. They thus won by 2 goals to nil. Mr. Carver was referee. Petone B v. Petono A.—This was a fast mine, and very even, Riddler scored for Petono B in the second spell, and they won by 1 goal to nil. Mr. Cusack ' t'oton'o °C v. Pnkeha B.—ln tho first ppell play was of an even nature. In the second spell, Paktha had tho best of the play, Jackson scoring. I hey won by 1 goal to nil. Tho referee was Air. Cusack. . Karori v, -Piikeha A.-This game was very fast right thiough. On the play,

Karori should have won, but their shooting was very bad. In tho first spell, Thompson scored for Pakeha, while, in the second spell, Dyer put on a goal for Karori. The gamo had to lie extended into threo further spells of five minutes each before tho winning goal was achieved by Groin for Pakeha, who thus won by 2 goals to 1. Messrs. Floyd and Panll controlled the game. Hui Mai v. Hereawa B.—Hui Mai had all the best of the game, winning by i foals to nil. Hoy scored 3 goals and ioy 1. Tho referee was Mr. Ciowie. Second Round. Hereawa A v. Petone B.—The game was very even, Caterer scoring the first goal for Hereawa. Riddler evened up for Pctone, but Caterer scored the winning.goal for floreawa, who won by 2 goals to 1. Referee. Mr. Cusack. Pakeha A v. Pakeha 8.-Tho A team had a fairly easy win. over tho B's by 1 goal (Clnpham) to 0. Hui Mai v. Hereawa A: This was a really good game. ■ Heveawa started well, Kuch notching tho first goal, but noy (from Hui Mai) evened up matters. Tho teams had to play over time, and Bay got the deciding goal for Hui Mai, that team winning by 2 goals to 1. Mr. Cower hud charge. , Final Round. Pakeha A v. Hui Mai: This was the gamo of tho day. Hui Mai opened up well, Hoy scoring a goal after four minutes' play. In tho second spell, and just before time, Clapshaw scored for Pakeha. Owing to the scores being equal tho teams had to play to extra spell of fivo minutes each before Hoy scored the winning goal for Hui Mai. The latter thus won by 2 goals to 1, and carried off tho tournament honours. Messrs. Floyd and' Paull had charge. SMOKE CONCERT. A smoko concert, to close the season of the Wellington Wednesday Hockey Sub-Association, was held at Scott s rooms last ovening, .Mr. J..C. Cusack presiding. Dr. Izard, president of the asociation, was present. During tho evening, Mr. vv. J. Organ, chairman of tho Wellington Hockey Association, presented the cup to the. winners of this year's championship (Petone A), whoso record is as follows :-Played H games, won 11, drawn 1, lost 2; goals for ii, against 10; championship points, 23._ The chairman also presented tho Hui Mai team, winners of tho six-a-side tour•nament, with six gold medals, and, also, on behalf of the Hui Mai Club, Mr. Jones's gold medals for the best forward (Hoy) and best back (Sherwood). The following toasts were, honoured:— "Wellington Hockey Association, proposed by Mr. J. Cusack, and responded to by Mr. W. J. Organ and Mr. A. A. Bennett; "Petone A Team," proposed by Mr. Jackson and responded to by Mr. Jl'Ewan. Mr. I'faff proposed "The Wednesday Hockey Association, and Mr. Ousack replied. "The Referees" was proposed by Mr. W. M'Ewan, and replied to by Messrs. Carver, Empson, and .Cusack. Mr. Millinson proposed "The Visitors, and Mr. Paull (Marlborough) and Mr. Flovd (Nelson) responded. The chairman stated that Mr. 0 Kano had presented a banner, nnd Mr. M'Ewan a trophv, to bo competed for next season. Tho following contributed musical and other itoms:-Messrs. Moran, Woods, M'Ewan. Gladding, Bengc, Bennett, Pfaff, and Jackson. LADIES' MATCH AT PETONE. Tho Opawa (Blenheim) Ladies' Hoclcey Club played a match against the Petono Ladies' Club on the Petono Recreation . Ground yesterday afternoon. The gamo resulted in a win for Opawa by 3. goals to nil. After tho match tho visitors were entertained at a 'social in tho. Drill Hall.
