Fifteen applications wore received fur tho position of starter of tho West Coast Country Racing Clubs at a meeting ol delegates of tho clubs interested, held last night. The applications wero first reduced to the following six:—Messrs. B. It. Macdouald, A. G. Wood, H. Thompson, It. E. Jackinau, H. Uutland, and J.' T. Armstrong. Tho reduction to three resulted: Messrs. Macdouald, Wood, Thompson. In reducing to two, Messrs.. Macdonald and Wood wero left in, and in. tho final vote Mr Macdonald was unanimously elected. Mr. Macdonald, who hails from Gcraldine, Canterbury, is a horseman of wide experience, and is highly recommended as a starter, and for his integrity. ■ In connection with (he Otaki Maori Racing Cluo'b spring in■ cting owners and trainers oro reminded that acceptances for the first day's handicaps and entries for the Maiden Plate close on Saturday, Sep.
