His Excellency the Governor, Lord Islington, Lady Islington and suite will be present to-night at Mr. Leonard Borwick's first recital iii the Town Hall. I'rofossor MacMilltm IJrown, of Christchurch, who has l>een on a visit to tho Solomon Islands and Australia, returned to Wellington by the Manuka yesterday morning. Mr. Leonard Borwick, tho eminent English pianist, was a passenger from Sydney for Wellington by tho Manuka yesterday. Mr. C. Pharazyn returned from Sydney by tho Manuka yesterday. Colonel Saunders, of the headquarters staff of tho Salvation Army, Melbourne, and tho architect-in-chief for that organisation, arrived from Australia by tho Manuka, and wont on to Nelson yesterday. He returns to Wellington at the end of tho week. Mr. W. J. Poison, of Fordell, is on a visit to Wellington. Mr. Henry Burling tho Waikanao centenarian, is seriously ill. About a month ago ho suffered an attack of bronchitis, from which he partly recovered, though it left him in a very weak state. Ho is now paralysed down tho right side, and has lost his power of speech, though not consciousness. Ho is being most carefully tended night and day by Mrs. Arthur Burling and the members of her family. Mr. John A. Plimmcr, of Khandallah, in company with his daughter-in-law, llrs. A. B. Plimmcr, leave for Perth today to settle tho affairs of tho late Mr. Arthur Plimmer in that city. At a ineqting of the Oamaru Presbytery yesterday it was unanimously resolved to nominate tho I?cv. R. J. Porter as tho Assembly's Moderator for 1912.—Press Association. Mr. M. J. Heywood, who became, district organiser lor the Government Insurance Department at Dunedin, in succession to the late Mr. B. S. M'Gowan, will shortly tako up a Bimilar position in Anckland, vice Mr. W. J. Speight, who is resigning from the service. Mr. Heywood's present position in Dunedin is to be filled by Mr. F. B. Bolt, chief clerk in the Department's Wellington district branch.
