BOWLS.

THE KHANDALLAH CLUB. The annual report of tho Khandallah Bowling Club, to be presented at Thursday's meeting, states:—As the green was not top-dressed until the -spring, it was not until November 12 that play was allowed on it. During the storm on Feb' mary 19 the stream overflowed its banks and considerable damage was done. Tho deposit of silt and rubbish 'was such as to causo ,tha premature closing of thu green, and portions of .the shrubbery and paths were washed away. Tho work of cleaning was immediately taken in hand; the green was heavily top-dressed and renown, and a 'second top-dressing has since been done. Its appearance at present time is satisfactory. The club affiliated with the Wellington Centre, and took' part in the pennant matches, Edwin feathers, and junior stars. Tho club was represented by ono rink at the centre tournament, and twb rinks at both tho Nelson and Otaki tournaments. The arrangements , made for holding weekly social evenings during the winter months are resulting satisfactorily, both from social' and finaucial standpoints. The directors were greatly hampered'through shortness of. funds, and. found it necessary to appeal to members for donations to enable them to carrv on—2B members contributed .E2G lis.' The thanks of the club are duo to tho ladies for donating an amount sufficient to defray the cost of doing np tho lower green; to the ladies' committee for arranging social evening; to Mrs. Cameron for presenting the olub flag; to Mrs. Page for shrubs; to Mr. Kirkealdio for a garden seat, picture, water fittings and shrubs; to Mr.' Willans for a table; to Mr. Vincent, who defrayed the cost of lamps for the pavilion; to Mr. Meek for preparing the plans of the pavilion; to Mr. Crump for supervising building operations; to Mr. J. A. -Plimmer for contributing £a towards cost of official opening and for presentation of ladies' pavilion; and to Mr. M. C- Smith for again taking tho levels. ■During the year 10 new members wero elected; 6 members wero struck off tho books and their arrears written off; G members resigned, the time limit for forfeiture of three of the latter's share has been extended. Tho membership totals GO. Under the articles of association, Messrs. Stafford, Crump, and Willans retire. A fourth vacancy caused by tho resignation of Mr. Batham will also require to bo filled. Nominations for these vacancies must be in the hands of the secretary forty-eight hours before tlio meeting. Tho To Hiwi Club has decided to open 'its season on Saturday, September 30.
