WELLINGTON INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Wellington Industrial Association was held last night. Mr. T. Ballinger presided. Resignations were received from tho Empire Box Company, Messrs. Allan Mnguire and W. and J. Staples and Co. Respecting the payment of XISOO to tho Wellington Education Board, Mr. A. L. llerdman wrote stating that he was of tho opinion that it was clear that tho association paid over the sum of .EISOO on conditions—(l) that five scholarships in the Technical Schojl should bo provided by the board, and (2) that a hall of about the dimensions mentioned in the • correspondence should be provided for tho association, and that an office of about tho dimensions mentioned in the letters should also be provided for the association. The proceedings throughout appeared to 1)0 irregular. JIo thought, however, that in the interests of tho Education Board and the association immediate steps should 1m taken to get tho Government to pass legislation which would properly define tho association's rights in connection with the grant which they made- of .EISOO. If that could not bo done, ho thought that as tho Education Board certainly received the sum upon certain definite conditions they received Hie money in tfust, and if lliey declined to fulfil theso conditions steps should be taken by the association to have the matter brought before the Court in order that a judgment might bo obtained declaring that the Education Board held tlir. money in trust for the association. It wa.s resolved that the secretary should write to the Education Board'in the terms of Mr. llordinan's advice.
