MONTHLY MEETING. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Palmerston, September 12. The monthly meeting of the General Committee of tho Manawatu A. and P. Society was held to-day, Mr. M. A. Conway presiding. The Department of Agriculture forwarded a list of seed experiments arranged by tho Association's Commi.tteo, and comprising experiments with cow beans, velvet beans, seed maize, peas, mangolds, lucerne, sainfoin, and grain, with farmyard and artificial manures.—Referred to the subcommittee appointed to work with Mr. A. D. B. Baylis. Tho Local Government Agricultural Instructor (Mr. Pred. Moore, of Kai Iwi) wrote inquiring whether tho special prizo for three-year-old Hereford steer had lapsed.—lt was resolved that circulars be forwarded to breeders stating that tho prizo will bo continued, and Mr. jVlooro is to bo thanked for bringing the matter forward. Messrs. A. Sutherland, E. S. Abraham, and P. E. Watson were appointed to arrango to have photographs taken of tho stock at the spring show. Six new members were elected. The reports of tho Finance Committee and of the Ground Committee wero adopted. The following tenders for privileges at the Manawatu spring show were accepted:—No. 1 luncheon booth, Mrs. J. Kawline, .£l2; No. 2 luncheon booth, Mrs. A. Edwards, .£10; No. 3 luncheon booth, Dustiii's, Limited; selling booth (refreshments, etc.), Dustin's, Limited, .£25; publican's booths, J. Hurley, .£l2O. Tho Military Tournament Committee was granted the use,of the show grounds for .£3O, and tho use of a room was granted for a meeting of draught horso breeders during tho spring show. The secretary reported that, with the exception of two judges for dogs, the list of judges for tho spring show .was now complete. _ . . The following motion was carried unanimously:—"That it be a recommendation to tho next annual meeting that Major Dunk bo elected an honorary life member, in recognition of the very valuable services which ho has rendered as chairman of tho Winter Show Committee." It was decided to engage the Palmerston and Marton Brass Bands for tho second and third days of the spring show. In calling attention to the Seed Sale Control Bill, now before Parliament, Mr. iK. Dalrymplo said that a fearful lot of Cnlifirnmu thistlo was brought hero in chnfE and oats from tho South Island. •Mr. W. P. Jacobs remarked that tho most serious objection which he'could seo in the Bill was that if it were made law one farmer could not sell seed to another. Messrs. J. Halsillic, P. S. MTuie, T. K. Lancaster, and P. Robinson were appointed a sub-committee to consider the Bill. Mr. Rait, lato of the Agricultural Department, was appointed hou. veterinarian to the association. Votes of thanks was accorded Messrs. Campion and E. W. Mills and Co. for gifts of forges for the shoeing competition, and to Mr. J. Bell, who had interested himself in this matter.
