KARORI TRAM SERVICE.
CHANGES IN TIME-TABLE. . ' Tbo Tramway Committee of tho Karori Borough Council recently interviewed the CitT Electrical Engineer (Mr. S. Richardson) regarding an alteration to the present time-table on the Karon, tramway svstem, and tlio electrical engineer submitted his report to Hie Karon Council at its meeting last night. In this it was stated that arrangements for the running of an hourly service between the Park and the Council Chain, bers between 12 noon-and 2 •p.m. ™\°™ urdiws and Sundays could 1* completed at a" week's notice, and also the discontinuance of the- running of n. car from Karori Park at 7.45 a.m. In regard to the possibility of running a hali-hourly service between the Botanical Gardens and the Council Chambers, instead pt the present 20 minutes' service, Mr. Kicliardson considered that (his would bo inconvenient to tlio. travelling public, and would not be sufficient lo cope with trains in summer, lie suggested that no alteration bo made in the- present afternoon service, but' thought that aJO-mm* uto service should be substituted belivecii 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., in place of the Ullninules' forvico. An explanatory timetable was attached to the report. In I Ins six cars were deleted from (ho Council Chamber departure table between !).8 a.m. and l.'S p.m. An 80-inimites' service would lie run between the Council Chambers and Karori Park during (he day. J his would mean a saving of 32 links daily. Ho considered that it would be advisable to retain the 20-inimUcs' service irom Newtown to flic Council Chambers, but an SO-mimitcs' service lo the park would probably cause no serious inconvenience. The miming of a service via Charlotte Street and the Post Office would probably he carried out in the early part ol next vear. Definite instructions had been issued in connection with the running of cars from the Council Chamlwrs to Karori Park, when ten or more passengers wished to ride through. Particulars were asked for in any instance where tramwaymen refused to run through. Tlio matter of conductors collecting fares at the commencement of sections had been taken up with tho men. The return of tickets sold on each section could be supplied (o the council free of cost providing such wero required for certain weeks only during tho year. The matter of cars leaving ahead of schedule time was Co be taken up strongly. The 10-minutcs' service to Karori on' Saturday night could 1)0 cut down and brought into operation again after 7 p.m. Tho Mayor slated that tho Tramway Committee had met on Monday and it had been decided to recommend lo Ihe council that the suggested altv.-ition of the time-table (as embodied in Mr. Richardson's reporl) be adopted, and thai'.Mr. Uichardson lie requested lo make such alteration as soon as possible.
