KARORI COUNCIL ON PICTURES.

CENSOR OR NOT? "Undesirable" motion pictures formed one of the topics at the Karori Borough Council last evening. It was introduced by the reading of the Raugiora Council's circular letter on tho subject. After tho letter' had been read, a councillor suggested that the Government might bo petitioned to appoint a censor. The Mayor (Mr. Cathie) thought that it was a rather serious question. Picture shows were, occasionally tho means of introducing undesirable matters. He thought that the slep suggested would bo a very suitable oue, and ho would mora that a letter be sent to tho Rangiora Council assuring that body of the cooperation of the Karori Council in tho direction of moving for a censorship. A councillor remarked that ho had been to a great many picture shows and had never seen 'anything of au undesirable nature. Another councillor said he did not liko the idea of appointing a censor. It meant merely the multiplication of inspectors. The matter should bo left in tho hands of tho police, who could take proceedings when occasion arose. A censorship over questionable- postcards, and certain publications, seemed to be more necessary. The Mayor's motion was seconded by Councillor Bradnock, and declared carried.
