(From Our Special Corrcsßondents.l FEUDING. ' The men's monthly medal handicap of the Feilding Golf Club was won by A. ,1. Trcvonn, whose cord read 105—19—Sfi. On .Saturday next a team from the Maroro OVanganui) Club will visit Feilding to plav a return match. The annual report, of the Feilding Chamber of Commerce states that, during the past year, the ehambor maintained an active interest in the welfare ,oi the town anil district, and its continued efforts to better railway facilities for trucking stock had been successful. Strong efforts had also been made to secure that the boundaries of the Oroua electorate should contain an area having as much community of interest as possible, and members were awaiting with interest the decision of the Electoral Commissioners. Tho report concludes: The business outlook for the coming year is very bright, and there is every reason to look forward to a successful commercial year."

SHANNON. Mr. C. Boss occupied tho chair at the annual meeting of tho Lawn Tennis Club last week. The following ollice-bearers wero elected:—Patron, Mr. T. Lind; president, Mr. I?. \\. Taylor; vice-presidents, tho Rev. Mr. J. A. M' ICenzie, Messrs. Boultbee and S. AV. Carter; committee, Mcsdamcs Carter nud Laurvig, Miss E Smitli, Messr.-. i J. W. Murray, C. Rossi and C. Duncklcy; secretary a nil treasurer, Mr. C. H. Gardiner; Match Committee, the president and Messrs. H. Mowbray and C. Ross. The courts will be opened on September 20, when members of tho Terrace End, Voxton, and I.cvin Clubs will be invited to be present. During the course of the evening complimentary reference was raado to the work of ill-. Gardiner, secretary. Thero was a good muster -of bowlers at; Stephenson's Hall last. wet-It, when Mr. G. N. Stephenson presided over the annual meeting of the club. The balance-sheet showed a crodit balance of £5 17s. 7d. Tho. secretary reported that the green had been top-dressed, and was in splendid condition. Tho following office-bearers were elected President, Mr. \V. H. Gunning; vice-president, Mr. J. Mitchell; secretary and treasurer, Mr. T. Lind; green superintendent, Mr. T. Lind; Match Committee, Messrs. Gallaml, Clayton, and Roach; General Committee, Messrs. G. N. Stephenson, E. B. Stephenson, J, Mitchell, J. Koach, and \V. Clayton; auditor, Mr. Galland; Refreshment' Committee,' Messrs. Hensman, Clayton, and Roach; caretaker, Mr. ,T. Olsen. Mr. J. E. Stansell was mado a lifo member. The Rev. Mr. Palmer and Messrs. Field, M.P.. Moncktou, and Byron Brown were elected honorary members, and Messrs. Doyle, Moynihan, Callighan, Fargher, and Bromley were elected new members. It is understood that Mr. J. Iv. Hornblow is likely to bo a candidate for the Otaki electorate in November. If'this bo so, the number of candidates will once more bo six, tho withdrawal of Mr. W. Murdoch having reduced tho candidates to five. The likely candidates are now: Messrs. Field (Government), Monckton (Opposition), Brown (Independent Opposition), Robertson (Labour), Thomson (Independent), and Hornblow (Independent Liberal).

MASTERTON. Tho anniversary "social" meeting in connection with the Congregational Church was held last night, when a very satisfactory report was read. Sir Robert-Stout will deliver a lecture at Knox Hall to-morrow evening on eugenics.
