AND ,THEIR NEW GROUND. A GOOD MEETING. Apparently tho Wellington Football Association aro in a fair way to having a ground of their own at Kilbirnie South. Judging by tho number of players and ■ supporters whp assembled at tho Y.M.C.A. last evening the scheme seems to bo assured. Tho meeting was held last evening with the intention of commencing an active campaign with a view of obtaining SOflO chareholders within tho next fourteen days. Fivo thousand shareholders are what is actually wanted, but tho provisional directors require an immediate 30(10 for tho purpose of forming a company as Soon as possible. , In his opening address, Mr. H. N. Holmes, the chairman, stated that every clnb was asked to make the proposed canvass. A ' capital start hail been _ made, shares to the number of 1223 having already been taken up, and promises of moro were coming in freely. The general public had not been asked to support tho scheme, it being the intention to call on only playore and supporters of "soccor." , Mr. J. Brodie, Mayor of Miramar, stated that he was deeply interested in tno Bcliome. The. It is proposed to let players and supporters' knojy, how tho shares are being taken up during the next fortnight by meand of' a "barometer," which will bo placed in front of Messrs. Duncan and ftl'lntosh's shop in Manners Street. Another general. meeting Will be held (ihis month, when it- is hoped to finally float the new venture. TO-DAY'S GAME. ' . Thi3 afternoon tho Wednesday representatives will play Hearts A (winners of tho Wednesday competition) at No. 6 Jtiramar.
