FARMERS' UNION.
The monthly meeting of the Palmerston branch of the Farmers' Union was held on Saturday, Mr. .1. Balsillio presided. Afl<T routine business was concluded the Tomit from the Dominion Conference: , "That the conference is of opinion that the rate of commission (5 per cent.) on tho sale of dairy stock, whether by miction or private sale, is an unjust tax on tho dairy industry," was discussed, and it was resolved that tho chairman represent the branch at a mooting of delegates to be called to go into the question. A circular was received from tho Provincial Executive, notifying that Mr. David .Tones, the orjraniser for the Farmers' Political Protection Federation, would give an address at Palmerston North on Thursday, September 21. The chairman (ir.d secretary were empowered to make the necessary arrangements for Mr. Jones's meeting. Mr. K. Gardner gave an interesting address on land tenure and valuations, and received a hearty vote of '.hanks.
