The New Zealand Golf Championship meeting concluded to-day, and, us has been tho case since the commencement, magnificent weather was experienced. A record crowd was present in the afternoon when the amateur and professional championships were, decided. Arthur-Duncan as was expected had a very easy win in Iho amateur event, though Dodgshun put up a gallant fight. The man who could have beaten Duncan this morning would indeed have been a wonder, for lie finished 9 up on bogey, and broke tho links record by four strokes, doing the round iii ( 70. Clements proved superior to M'Ewan in the professional championship, though tho play throughout was of an oven nature. The following are. the results of tho day's play:—

AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL. . Tho first eighteen holes wero played in tho morning. For the first hole both men got in good drives. With his second, a clock shot, Duncan got well up on tho green at the corner, but Dodgshun was short. Duncan then holed out in 4, nnd was one up. Playing to tho "Dress Circle," Duncan with a lino drive, got over the ridgo as did Dodgshun, but tho latter with his hrassic got into the sand, while Duncan found the green, and holed in 5. Two up. Playing to the "Exodus" both got in fine drives, but Dodgshuu's second landed him in tho rough, while Duncan got on the green, and then with a great putt, in which he screwed cleverly, hokd in 3. Three up. Playing for the "Ridge," Dodgshuu's drive was very weak, but his second was a good one. Duncan's drivo was fino, and his second ran over the green. He hol.cd iii' i. Four up. Playing to tho"Eedan," Duncan got on to the green in a good position, while Dodgshun ran over. Both missed their putts, and the hole was halved. Playing to "Lilliput," Duncan landed just off the green with his mashie shot, whilo Dodgshun ran past. Duncan with his run up landed a yard away, whilo Dodgshun failed to hole, but nearly stymied Duncan, who holed out in 3, and was 5 up. Good drives by both, and they got on to the green in two at the "Quarry" the hole being hahed. Both drove well to "Land's End," but Duncan made the better approach with his mid-iron, Dodgshun running through on to the edge, but ho mado a splendid putt and halved in 4. At tho "Slope" Duncan landed on the green about 10 feet away, while Dodgshun was short, but got in a good approach. Ho missed a 1-foot putt by inches only, and the holo was halved in 5. Duncan had thus gone out in 33 over the last three greens. Dodgshun was playing very correct golf, his scores being all bogeys, and it was hard luck to be up against such a brilliant player as Duncan with the latter in top form. Playing to "Long Tom," Duncan's drivo was a lino one, but ho found a hanging lie. However, taking his deck, he got in a good shot,, and with his third was just short of tho green. His run up was splendid, but he failed with his putt by G inches. Dodgshun took four to reach tho green, but halved in G. At "Terawhiti" Duncan put in a perfect clock, and got on the green within six feet of the pin. Dodgshun got to tho left, and was short in his approach. Duncan holed in 2, and was G up. At tho twelfth Dir'can holed in 4, and was seven up. So far Duncan had not made the sernbla ice of a mistake. The thirteenth was halved in 5. At the "French Pass" Duncan got on to the green With his drive, but Dodgshun lost tho head of his brassie, and was bunkered. With a mashie shot he cleared and found the green. Duncan just missed holing with his second, and then found it in 3, and was eight up. At "Bunker's Hill" good drives, ami landed on the green ,with their second. Dodgshun missed a lone putt, and Duncan holed in -1. This mado him nine up. p At tho "cabbago Trco" Duncan got to the right with his approach, while Dodgshun found the green, but missed his putt, and thus lost a chance of winning the hole. Duncan got in a good long putt, but missed a very easy chance, tho hble being halved in 5. Playing to "Balgownie," Duncan pulled to the left, and was then short, with his approach. His run up was also short, and it look him 5 to hole, but even then he, won, and was ten up. Playing for homo, Duncan had to do it in three to make his score 70, but lie proved equal to tho occasion. Ho got in a splendid drive, his line king perfect, and then ho ■ landed about three yards from the pin. Great interest was taken in his putt, but with a fine effort he holed in 3, and thus hod dono tho links in 70, a great performance, ano was ten un. His card road: 4, 5, 3, 4, 3. 3, -I, 4, 3—33. G, 2, 4, 5, 3, 4, 5, 5, 337. Total, 70. - The second round was played in tho afternoon. Dr-pito his big handicap, Dodgshun set out in good heart, and played excellent golf. Tho first hole was halved in four, but tho "Dress Circle" proved fatal to both players, Duncan taking G and Dodgshun 7. Tho "Exodus" was halved in 4, and Dodgshun won the "Itidge." Tho "Redan" fell to Duncan, 3—4, but Dodgshun won the "Lilliput." Tho "Quarry" was won in 4 by Duncan, ami "Land's End" was halved. Tho game ended by Duncan winning 11 up and 10 to play.

A BEST ON RECORD FOR THE COURSE. IBy Telegraph-Special Correspondent.! Wanganui, September 9. Spectators wcro treated to a great exhibition of golf on the part of Arthur Duncan to-day. It was bad hick for' Dodgshun to strike Duncan when Uie latter was playing such a remarkably lino game, and though he played well, ami did a bogey round, he could not get nearer to Duncan than eleven down and ten to play. Tho match was played over L'G holes. Kot unnaturally, the result was looked upon as a foregone conclusion, ami when at the 4th hole Duncan was four up, all interest in tho game, so far as championship honours were concerned, jlmd died. However, thus early it waa seen that tho champion was in splendid form, and thero was every probability of him putting up the best on record' for tho 'course. Tho previous best stood at jfy. but this Duncan boat, ,by i, (iuishing up in 70. Needless to say, tho champion was loudly applauded on reaching home. The conditions were perfect for Rolling, but all the same tho form shown by the Wellington crack was wonderfully good, as "may bo gathered from tho fact that ho was ten up ■on bogey, and never lost a hole to tho latter. The gamo between Clements and Jl'Eivan for tho professional championship was a much more even one, and was also watched by a crowd, who wero treated to 11 capital display by both men over the first; 18 holes, at tho end of which Clements was three up. Keeping tho samo distance ahead over tho remaining holes, tho Christc'hnrch man was finally returned us professional champion. LIST OP WINNERS.
