ST. JOHN'S TENNIS CLUB.
St. John's Tennis Club held its annual meeting on Tuesday night, Mr. J. Boal presiding. The secretary's report and treasurer's statement were read, and adopted. Last year had been a record one, in that moro members had joined than in any other year, more courts were obtained, tho subscription had been reduced, and yet tho cash surplus at tho end of tho vear eclipsed that of any other period. The ladies' team came second iu the C Grade championship, losing the last match on games, sets being even. Their record was- Matches played 10, won 8, lost 2. Sets for 41, sets against IG, points for 373, noints against 252. They won more sots and maro games than any team in their grade. The following officers wero elected:—Patron, Dr. Gibb; president, Mr. G. A. Troup; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. .T. Bonl, J. S. Butler, E. K. Lo'mas, and G. S. Moore; club captain, Mr. W. Batldcn; secretory, Mr. N. Andrew; treasurer, Miss Pullman; management committee. Misses ]?. Kitehiiig, ;ind A. Mace, and Messrs. J.'Chapman and AV. E. Shaw; auditor, Mr. A. K. Coad. The retiring secretary and treasurer, vis:., Mr. A. IT. Coad and Miss Agnes Paterson', did not seek reflection. A new constitution for tho club was drawn up, and agreed to, anil voles of thanks were passed to members of the outgoing committee. The treasurer reported that all subscriptions had been collected.
