PHILOSOPHICAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Wellington Philosophical Society was held in tho Dominion Museum last night. Mr. G. V. Hudson presided, and there was a very good attendance. "Notes on New Zealand Acarina" was the subjcct of an interesting paper read by Mr. J. B. Gateuby, who supplemented his reading by a number of excellent drawings and live specimens. Mr. u. L. Adkin read extracts from a very lengthy paper entitled "Account of somo Exploration of and Discovery of Former Glaciation in tho Torarua Ranges." Thcro wore three other papers on tho order paper, which, owing to lack of timo, had to bo taken as read. They were: "Raised Beaches of Capo Turakirae," by Mr. B. C. Aston, F.1.C., P.C.S.,- "Mnllophoga from Kcrmadec Islands," by Mr. T. Hnrvoy Johnston, M.A., D.So., and Mr. Launcelot Harrison, communicated by Mr. A. Hamilton on tho "Migrations of tho Polynesians according to the evidence of their Language," by Professor J. Macmillau Brown.
