The council of the l'almerston Chamber of Commerce met to-dav to consider (lie Sale of Poisons Act and the Seeds Bill; also the proposed amendments in respect to industrial conciliation. The president (Captain Haydwi} was in the chair. Tho mcGtiiiß was called in consequence of a communication from the Wellington Chamber, whioh forwarded a copy of a resolution aiming at amending the Conciliation 'and Arbitration Act, and s.ulieited the'co-operation of the local chamber. The resolution of ihc Wcllinsion "Chamber wes to the effect that it was desirable that the Act should to amended this session to provide that notice should be ?iveii to employers or employees (in any iudustry) of any application, in connect ion with such industry, for registration as an industrial association or union; also that an opportunity should bn given for employers CJ employees to oppose such registration, and that there should be a right of appeal from tho decision of the. registrar upon such matters to the Arbitral ion Court. At Tiritea, there passed away on Saturdav night Mrs. Elizabeth Bryant, wife of Mr". Kobcrt Bryant, at the age of 60 years. The lata.M-r-s. Bryant was one of the okt residents of the Dominion, and has lived at Tiritea for nearly thirty years.
