MARGARINE.
A total of t'O boxes of margarine came to hand by this week's Sydney steamer, and thero. appears to be a steady, if not heavy, . demand for tho product. Tho shipment included. 20 boxes .for AVollington, 50 for Lyttolton, and 20 for Dunedin. Tho product is being used fairly extensively by bakers and pastry-cooks, but very little is directly consumed by tho general, public. The price ruling on the local markets for some timo pa?t has been about Sd. to BJd._ It is reported that margarino factories are largely on tho increase in Great Britain, there being about '10. in full working order, six now factories having been registered last year.
