Mr. C. Robinson, officer in charge of the Parliamentary Buildings, entertained tlie Parliamentary reporters at an oyster supper ill the Press Uallery last evening. Mr. ltobinson's health was heartily toasted by the assembled pressmen, and 'he responded in an interestingly reminiscent vein. The littlo gathering, though of brief duration, was of a pleasantly convivial character, and will help to cement the friendly bonds that unite Jlr. Kobinson to his friends, old and now, in the Press Gallery. The Pipe Band will give a performance at Lyali Bay to-morrow afternoon. Br. Fyffo is strongly of opinion that organised school games should bo insisted upon, but first and foremost he emphatically declared at the Teachers' Inslituto last evening, during the course of his lecture on physical culture, he would insist upon definite attention being given to the cxereiso of swimming, the sport to be preferred beyond all others as tho most satisfactory, system of physical development. "But 1 doubt," he said, "whether in this so-called democratic country we should ever be able to insist upon these things." An interesting lecture on the subject of physical culture and the laws of IkiWi was delivered by Dr. AW K'yngton Fyfle liefore the Wellington Branch ol tho New Zealand Educational Inslituto last evening. Mr. .C. Watson, president .of the branch, was in tho chair. The doctors remarks were, followed with close attention thvousrhont. and at (he conclusion Major .T. 11. Hume, K.X.Z.A.. supplemented the lecturer's noints with a practical demonstration of various physical exorcise*. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded tho lecturer and Major Humo at the close.
