SUNDAY SCHOOL WORK.

WELCOME TO MR. NEWTON JONES. Mr. Newton Jones, who is visiting NewZealand as a deputation from the London Sunday School Union, received a cordial welcomo to Wellington at a tea held in tho Y.M.C.A. building at 6 o'clock last evening. The chair was occupied by-Mr.-11. D. Grocott, president of tho Wellington Sunday School Union, who ten-, dered Mr. Jones a hearty welcome to tho city on behalf of the Sunday Schools. There was a large attendance, over 80 persons sitting down to tea. Theso included tho ministers, superintendents, and secretaries of different churches in Wellington, on behalf of whom the Rev. J. J. North spoko words of welcome. In the course of his reply, Mr. Jones referred to his work in different parts of the world, and to the wonderful growth of tho Sunday School movement. Mr. Jones is to deliver an address to Sunday Sclicol workers at tho Y.M.C.A. this evening. Next week there will bo two meetings each night at tho 'l'aranaki Street Wesleyan Schoolroom, and the following week at St. James, Newtown. The early meetings wilt be for scholars, and are made interesting by what Jlr. Jones calls "chalk talks," and tlio later meetings aro for teachers and friends of the 'movement.
