Lower Hutt Wedding. ; A very pretty choral wedding was celebrated at St. Peter and St. Paul's, Lower Hutt, on Wednesday afternoon. ■ .The ceremony was performed by the Rev. 'Father Lane, and the contracting parties' were Miss Ivy France, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. J. France, of Lower Hutt, and Mr. James Cottrill. only fon of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cottrill, of Wellington. Mr. Bridget - presided at the organ. The bride, who was given -away by her father, was attired'in a handsome costume of creme corduroy velvet with grey hat trimmed with pink, and carried a pretty bour/uet of camellias, freesias and . maiden-hair fern. She was attended by her sister,' : Miss Riibi France; "who' wore a pretty dress of grey crepon- with black, hat trimmed with roses, and carried a bouquot of- camellias au,d maidenhair fern. Mr. Charles France was best man. After the ceremony a reception was 'held at tho residence of the bride's parents, and the usual toasts honoured. A large number of pretty and useful presents were received by the young couple. The bridegroom's present to • the bride was a diamond ring, and to the maid a ruby ring. The bride's present to the bridegroom was a gold atbert. Later in, the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Cottrill left on their honeymoon, which is to be spent at Palmerston and Wanganui. Mrs. Franco received her guests in black silk with jet, trimmings, and Mrs. Cottrill in black silk, and black hat. Wedding at Napier. ' At St. Patrick's C.hurch, on Tuesday afternoon, the marriage of Miss Ellen .Lloyd, daughter' of Sir. and Mrs. G. uloyd, of Port Ahuriri, to Mr. Leonard Silverwood, sou of Mr. W. Silverwood, of Napier, >\as celebrated by the Rev. Father O'Connor. The bride, who waj given away by. her father, was dressed in' (ream char'metise .trimmed with,silk insertion, wdVfl the orthodox wreath and veil, and carried a' beautiful' shower bouquot. Miss Mary Lloyd, who atten.'od her, sister, wore a dross of shell pink colienne,'black hat trimmed with pink ,roses and silver cord, and carried a pink-shower; bouquet. Mr. A. Pellow, of Auckland, was best man. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a handsome gold, bangle-and to the bridesmaid a gold cable bangle. After the. ceremony the guests wero entertained at the residence of tho bride's parents, Breakwater Road,/from which place Mr, and Mrs. Silverwood left on their honeymoon, which will be spent i;i Auckland. The bride's going-away dress was a navy tide tailor-made, costilme with saso ; blue hat .trimmed .with cream roses. Dance on The Terrace. Mrs. Arthur L. Warburton was the hostess last evening at a very enjoyable little dance given in. the pretty dancing hall belonging to Mr. A. Warburton'? residenco on the Terrace. • Most ciosllent gramaphone selections were given between many of the dances, and bridge (for those who did not'care to dance) formed a very , pleasant diversion., Tho gramaphono even supplied one or two of tho extras, and supplied them perfectly. Supper was laid on tables in the room downstairs, bowls of yellow and white narcissi and primroses forming the decorations.' Mrs. Warburton was wearing a frock-of white satin,, with coloured embroidery worked upon the bodice and a beaten silver scarf; Miss Violet Warburton was in a frock of brown chiffon velvet, thu square-cut being bordered with folds of net and lace embroidered in . gold; Miss Rathbone, white satin, with an embroidered overdress of; ninon; Miss — Rathbone, blue satin, with ninon tunic and crystal embroidery. Among others present were:— Mrs. Buckeridge, in white chiffon taffetas trimmed' with lace; Mrs. G. Wright, black velvet with lace; Mrs. Dixon, cerise satin with white lace; 'Mrs. Hoggard, black satin afid black lace; Miss S. Barraud, lemon-coloured silk, with tunic of ninon bordered with blue; -Miss Wright, blue satin, with tunic of ninon; Miss Zohrab, black velvet, with silver bands of insertion; Miss E. West, emerald satin, with bands of Oriental 'insertion aiid overdress of ninon; Miss 0. Moyes, blus satin; Mrs. Parker, white satin, with embroideries;' Miss — Rathbone,- white, satin, .bordered with pink and a ninon tunic. Ladies' Hockey Tournament. Already a number of the teams competing at the ladies' big hockey tournament, commencing at Day's JJav to-morrow afternoon, have reached Wellington. Tho West-Coast and Nelson players came on Wednesday evening, and tho Hawke's Bay and Auckland players arrived by last evening's train. Canterbury, Southland, Taranaki, Manawatu, AVanganui, Marlborough, and Wairarapa teams are expected to-day.' Altogether 300 players will be assembled in Wellington during the or nine days of the tournament'. Of this large number no fewer than 200 have been billeted out—an unenviablo task for those in charge. The seven opening matches set down for decision tomorrow are all important ones, and no doubt the most exciting will prove to 'be that between Hawke's Bay,. the present champions, and Canterbury A. It is three years since these two teams havo met, and then Hawke's Bay won by one goal to nil, Canterbury playing under protest oil account of arriving only that morning after a rough sea passage. The southern ladies, however, reckon they will win this time. The Ferry Company will run a frequent service in connection with tho tournament, and their fine new steamer Awaroa has been specially commissioned for the occasion. Lady Ward will be present at the opening match on Saturday afternoon. Ladies will bo interested to note that Mrs. Holleston has just received from England a very large assortment of Hair Goods, made of the best quality English hair, including switches suitablo for Flairdressing in the newest styles which each purchaser will bo taught gratis.
