'.".:,. ADDINGTON RALE. (By Telegraph-Press Association.) Chrlstehurch, August 30. At Addington there was a fairly largo yarding of stock and a. good attendance. There was no chanse in values of fat hoggets, .there being an easier tendency, many wethers being down 2s. to 3s. per head. Fat pigs were much dearer. The yarding of store sheep was about equal to last week in point of numbers, and -was of mixed character, ttotrccts formed the larger proportion, the balance being chiefly ewes, but only n. few pens of wethers were forward sorts. For the twotooth ewes on offer thore was a good demand at iirm rates.' but other classes were dull of tale. Hoggets were difficult to dispose of, a. few halfbrede felling at 13s. to Us., and a good mixed lino at 14a. lid., those prices being ctioal tq last week's rates, hut other classes were easior by 6d. to 9d. per head. Wethers were unchanged m price.- The ranee n£ pticcs was: Exceptionally good two-tooth halfbrcd ewes. 19s. 3d. to. 19s. 6tl'.: four, six, and eight.tooths, 13:1. to 14s 3d.: sound-mouth, 10s. 6d. to 11s. 6ti.; failing-mouth, 7s. 6d. to 11«.; ewes and lijmlir. Tho entry of fat sheep was somewhat larger than last wenk. and included several lii:es of heavy Border Leicester cross wethers from Southland and Komney Leicester cross from Jlawkc's Hay. The local yheop were mixed in weight and quality, and included a few pons of hogeets and merino wethers. At tho opening of the rale prices showed a decline on late rales, heavy Vlicep being easier by 2s. to 3s. ner head. The ma,rl;et became a little firmer towards the close, but prices generally were Is. to 2s. below last week's rates, and more as mentioned in the. case of heavy sheep. Tho range of prices was: Prime wethers, 22*. to 275. 6(1.; others, 16;. 3d. to 21s. til..; prime ewes, 18s. to 235.; extra, to 245. 6d.j others, 15a. to 17s. 6d.; hoggets, 13s. 9d. to 18s. 3d.; merino wethers, 14s. 6(1. to 17s. Id.; new season's lamb?. 15s. Hi.

There were 240 he»:I of Tat cattle oenned of fair aycraee aua.|ity. Notwithstanding the yardinic beine smoller than of late, tho demand was not keen, and a number of lots were vaseed in. The reason for this it is stated was that a considerable (iiiaiitity of dead beef from the Xorth Island has been imported into Canterbury and at relatively lower urices than are ruline for beef in the yards. Steers made £7 17f. 6d. to £11; extra, to £14 55.; heifers, to £9 17s. 6d. Veal calves made 4s. 6d. to 555., accordins to size and duality, and exceot for two-year-olds there was not much rale. For store cattle yearlings made 255.; 15 to 18-month=, 535. to 603.; two-year steers. £4 Us. to £4 17s. 6f1.; two-year hsilers. £{.

7s. to £4 15s. 6(1.: dry rows, 30s. to £-1 45,; dairy cows made £3 IC.-, to £3 15s. There was a saunll entry of fat pic?, and prices showed a sharp ri;c, the sale being one of the hest he!(l for some time. Choppers made up to £5 155.; heavy baconers, 60a. to 705.: and lighter, 50s. to 575. 6d. •(equal to sJcl. to 53d.. and in some cases up to 6d. per Ib.j; large porkers, 3,75. 6d. to 475. 6(1.j smaller. 3Cs. to 365. At Burnside to-day 195 fat cattle were yarded. At the start of the sale nrice3 were, if anything, a little better than those ruling last week, and though it was anticipated that owing to the large yarding prices would bo easier towards the close, the raq.rset was firmer throughout. Best bullocks. £12 to £13 ICe.; extra to £14 7s. ■H.; medium, £10 IPs. to £11 155.: best hei■fers. £8- to £9.; extra, to £11 17s. 6d.; medium. £5 IDs: to £7 15s. '•_ Fat Sheen: 4066 penned.
