It is reported that tho Union Company have engaged the steamer Skogstad on a time charter. Tha Skogstad is a Norwegian steamer of 3655 tons, commanded by Captain Rynniusr. She is at present on her way from Port Nata! to Newcastle, and is to load at the Jitter port about Saturday for Lyttelton and other South Island porte. On her arrival from London, via Auckland and Napier, this morning, the Tyser steamer Indralcma will bcrlli at the Queen's Wharf No. 1 South. It is expected to dispatch her for Wanganui >at (iaybroak on Sunday. Captain J. Compton k late of the Niwaru. has taken command of the Ncrehana, and Captain Hello, late of the Tomoana, has gone in charge of the Niwaru. Jfr. A. J. nfelm, has joined the Kapiti as chief officer, vice Mr. E. F. Gibson. Mr. A. B. Siyar loft tho Rosamond at Wellington, yesterday, and joined the Patcena as thrd officer, vice Mr. H. E. Rutter, who has come ashore for orders. Mr. F. J. Smith has filled tho vacancy on the Rosamond. Mr. J. H. PrendtTvillc, second engineer of the Kamon.%, his come ashore, and Mr. C. J. Stych Ins been engaged. Mr. W. Burch ioined the Patecna as eecond officer yesterday. At 4 p.m. to-day, the New Zealand Shipping Company's R.H.S: Ruapchu is to loivo Wellington for Lyttclton. The eamo company's liteainer Waimnto left for the southern port last evening.

Due here on Monday morning from Liverpool, via Auckland and Napier, the F.-H.-S. steamer Surrey • discharges at this port, and commences Homeward loadine. She then, proceeds to Lytlclton and Duncdin, wliere discharge wi!! be completed. The Surrey loads at Lyttclton. Duncdin, and Bluff before leaving for Sydney to load for Avomnouth. Gant-iin Worrall is going Home to bring out the Union Company's new liner Maunganui. Mr. Cunningham.' who was purser of tho Moana, remained behind this trip at Sydney owing to ill-health. His place has been taken by Mr. Campbell, of the Wakatipu. Captain E. D. Lowdjn is in command of tlic Shaw, Savill slcnraor Rangatira, which arrived at Port Chalmers from London on Monday, nis officers arc—Mc£.sr3. P. E. Halm, chief; H. Falconer, second; H. Upon completion of discharge at Duncdin and'Lyttclton, the Itangatira • proceeds to Australia to load for tho Capo and England.
