PETONE HIGH SCHOOL CONCERT.

Tho Palace Theatre, Petone, presented an animated appearance last night, the occasion being the District High School's pageant and concert. Every s?at was occupied, and many people wore standing Undoubtedly the star turn was the Empire Pageant, in which there were one hundred children. Supporting "Britannia," which is the leading character were the "Rose, Thistle, and Shamrock," which were surrounded by representatives of all the British colonies. These went through national dances. The "Canadian" girls went through a skating iigure, and the New Zealand bovs, impersonating Maori chiefs, danced lialcas. The tableaux concluded with a grand march, which was verv striking and was met by very hcartv applause.

All thoolhcr items were also well received, especially the action songs by the infants. Thorn were also ballets by little girls, llowev dances, physical drill", gymnastics by the school cadets, and won songs by a negro troupe. All told, there were a little over «00 children taking part in the programme. Tho proceeds, which should amount to a large sum, will be devqlod to the school funds. The pageant will bo repeated to-night, and for the last time on Friday night.
