SIX TORPEDO BOATS ASHORE. By Telegraph—l'ress Association—Copyright New York, August 29. During the storm at Charleston, in South Carolina, six torpedo boats were driven ashore. A score of other small vessels were wrecked. Tho whole of tho lower part of tho town is still under water. Telephone and telegraph communication has been destroyed, Seveiity-fivo- persons tiro marooned on the Islo of Palms, and aro suffering from hunger and thirst. ... DEATH ROLL OF ELEVEN. (Rec. August 31, 0.20 a.m.) London, August 30. During the hurricane at Charleston sis torpedo boats were tossed high on the boach by tho violence of the waves. Tho Navy Yards also suQer-ed. The death roll numbers eleven. Scores of launches and small craft wore broken into fragments. Tho property damage runs into a million dollars. The water is now subsiding in the streets, and efforts aro being made to resumo traffic.
