QUEENSLAND FINANCE.
STATE BUDGET DELIVERED. By Telegraph-Press Asaociation-CoDyrieht Brisbane, August 30. In the Legislative Assembly, the Treasurer, Mr. Barnes, delivered his Financial Statement, which shows that tho revenue for the year was =£273,800 above tho estimate, leaving a surplus of ,£5271. *
It is estimated that in the current year tho revenuo will show an increase of .fi-153,580, and the expenditure an increase of ,£-153,80 G. The estimated surplus is «£i95C.
Proposals include increasing tho port accommodation at Brisbane at a of over .£BOO,OOO.
Tho Estimates provide for ,£IOO,OOO for increasing the pay of the lower grade railway employees.
TJio Treasurer claimed that there- was abundant evidence that Queensland had continued to progress ill a marked manner He hoped the losses in connection with the- sugar industry, and the result of floods and strikes would not be so great as was nt one time expected.
