FIRE BRIGADE STRIKES,

The Auckland Fire Brigade struck nt 3 p.m. last Friday, to enforce a demand for increases of wages amounting to sixpence a day. Early in .Tune a revised scale of wages had been presented to the Fire- Board by the. men, but the beard decided to communicate with the southern hoards before acting . The, inon got tired of delay, and at noon gave an hour's notice. A special meeting of the hoard was called. Ths men were persuaded to stay till 3 o'clock, and at ,115, after the city had been unprotected for fifteen minute?, they were informed thai: (heir demands had been aeeeded to. Tho top wages asked were ,E2 15s. Gd. per week.
