Tho following manifesto, signed by M. Laracy, organising secretary of the NewZealand Shearers and Woolshed Employees' Industrial Association of Workers, has been issued:—"The Shearers' Conference, assembled in Wellington in July-August, 1911, unanimously passed the following resolution: 'That this Conference of shearers' delegates pledges itself not to become workers within the meaning of tho Arbitration Act at less than 20s. per 100 for shearing, and strongly urges all members of the association not to become workers under tho Shearers' Award and Arbitration Act at less than 20s. per 100.' It was also unanimously agreed that a manifesto to this effect bo issued by the association. These resolutions wero merely an endorsement by the Conferenco of similar resolutions passed by all affiliated unions in the association."
Miss Anderson Hughes's illustrated lecture, "Palestine," which is to be given in the Wesley Schoolroom on Friday night, is the outcome of a recent tour through that land. That Miss Hughes's lecturo is of interest to all Bible students and Sunday school workers is evidenced by the. attendances tint wore- present to hear it in Auckland, and the Sunday school authorities in that city arc offering to arrange for a repetition on six consecutive nights. Miss Hughes will also address a meeting to-night (Tuesday) in tho Kclburno Presbyterian Church. An unreserved sale of contractor's plant, horses, etc., will bo held at the farm, Tnllemache Ibnd, Hastings, by Messrs. Lundon. Stewart and Co.. in conjunction with the Hawko's Bay Farmers' 'Co-operative Association, on Saturday, September 2. A stock sale will bo held by Messrs. Dalgely and Co., at Levin, on Friday, September 1. In this issue Messrs. C. and B. Jackson, land agents, Stratford, advertise particulars of 1500 acres of land for sale. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Society of Accountants will be held in tho Chamber of Commerce, Customhouse Quay, to-morrow at 7.30 p.m. A stock sale is advertised in this issue.
