STATE ERECTED SILOS.
SUCCESS OF THE VICTORIAN SCHEME. •_ The Victorian Department of Agriculture js still erecting silos for farmers oh the time-payment system. One-third cash •is paid before the erection .of the silo, and the balance in equal payments at the end'of thb first and second ye<irs. Various forms of tubs arc erected. A 100-ton wood and iron silo costs to according to distance from Melbourne; a-105-ton all wood, £trl to'.£sl; 110-tori all steel, .£64 to .£O7; and a 100-ton concrete block, .£9O to .£92,.-,; These prices, include tho cost of an elevator. For the all steel it is claimed that it has tho advantage of being' white-ant proof, and .is not affected by climatic conditions, while it is also of much less tho "Other types. The popularity of the concrete bloclc silo, it is stated, is steadily increasing, owing to it being lire, white-ant, and vermin proof, and more .durable than any other material. • '
