» A SITE SELECTED. (By Telegraph-Special Correspondent.) Auckland, August 27. ■Yuckland is to liavo a Zoo after all. According to Mr. J. Hnrtwcll, represen ativo of Mr. J. J. Boyd, all the obstacles which have boon placed in the way ha\e been removed, and there is now a cjcai wav for lion?, tigers, leopards, anil birds in "great variety' to couo into Auckland in captivity, " unobstructed by the authorities. "We are going to give Auckland a zoological gardens, and not a side-show, remarked Mr. Uartwell. Tliero would bo about COD different animals on exhibition, and it was expected that the /oo would be opened to (ho public in Octobcr. JH wished it to be known that it was not the Wanganui Zoo that was being transferred to Auckland. The Wanganui /oo was not to be tampered with, and all the animals for Auckland were ,' ,cll| u imported. The site of the Zoo will bo at Onehunga, where 15 acres have been purchase 1 in the neighbourhood of tho Roval Oak corn:;'. The grounds will ue neatly laid out, and a bandstand will be erected.
