MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before"Mr. W. G. Biddell, S.M.) THE VIOLENCE OF STUPARICH. At ton minutes past nino on _ Friday night a rumpus in a konsp in Newtown attracted the attention of the polie?, and they had to appl) a little muscular argument to a man named Antonio Stupavich, who appeared in Court on Saturday morning charged with assaulting Phyllis I*erraro, and with resisting a police constable. The police story was that tho man had struck tho woman, and had also kickcd a constable in the stomach. Ho did a little work, , bat lived chiefly on the earnings of unfortunate women. He also had a "record." - His Worship perused the record, and observed that assault and resisting the police were both to.StuparicVs discredit. He fined Stuparich -10s. for the assault, and sentenced him to 14 days' imprisonment for resisting the police.
OTHER CASES. Mary Joyce was fined £!, in default 11 days' imprisonment, for breaking a prohibition order. For assaulting Leo Swan, Ava Verger was fined £1, ill default seven days • imprisonment.
