Tho weekly gathering of tho Wellington Men's Brotherhood took place yeatorday afternoon at tho New Theatre, manners Street, when rt large muster asEcmbleit Mr.«. E. 0. Blumires presided. Miss Hood, of Haw-era, rendered two solos with fine effect, and Miss Lulu Arnold greatly charmed tho audience with an elocutionary item, for which she was enthusiastically applauded. Miss Anderson Hughes was the speaker, and dealt with the drink-traffic of New Zealand in an interesting manner. The speaker quoted instances that had come under her notico during her travels through the British Umpire, where drink, she stated, hurt jdayed u prominent part in tho downfall of the'mighty, and tho creation of intense poverty, especially in tho largo cities.
