At low water mark it is now 1700 foot from the end of tho north mole. No check is needed at present. FARMERS' CO-OPERATIVE. Timaru, August 25. Tho Farmers' Co-operative had a good year. The directors propose, an 8 per cent, dividend on capital, G per cent, bonus on purchases (except machinery), the usual 3 per cent, on salaries, tho usual rebates on commissions, to place .CIOOO to reserves, and carry tlio batanco forward. UNEMPLOYED IN DUNEDIN. Duncdin, August 25. There 'are close on oue hundred workmen at present unemployed in Dunedin, seventy being registered on tho Labourers' Union books. They held a meeting this morning to urge public todies and the Stale to provide work. It was stated that of twenty men questioned ■ they had ninety depondents unable to help themselves. DEAD BODY FOUND. Gisborne, August 25. Information was received in town late-to-night from Port Awanui (about 100 miles up the East Coast) that a station hand, while mustering cattle, had discovered the dead body of a man lying at tho foot of a tree with a swag beside him. Tho body was brought into Fort Awanui, but has not yet been identified. Ho had evidently been dead some time. An inquest will be held to-morrow. INVERCARGILL "KEGGERS." Irwercargill, August 24. Since the inception of No-License in Invercargili, keg parlies in tht numerous reserves about the town have, been a trial to tho police and an annoyance to a certain section of the public. Several prosecutions have failed, and it has been, rather difficult to discover how to deal with the'matter. To-night the Borough Council passed a by-law prohibiting bringing into or consumption in any municipal reserve without the authority oi tho council. >
