WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. HANNAN AND TRACY MATCHED. OTHER FIXTURES. A meeting of tho committee, of tho Wellington Boxing Association was held last night, Mr. E. A. Blundell presiding. There were also present Dr. A. L. Napier M'Leau, Messrs. U. Guise, J. L. Day, J. E. Stanles, W. A. Fordham, T. Samson, It. D. "Smith, and W. G. Talbot, secretary. A letter was received from tho Tarnnaki Boxing Association stating that that body had protested to the Now Zealand Boxing Council against tlio selection of J. Hegarty as New Zealand light-weight representative at the coming Australasian championships, in preference to A. 'C. Maxwell, tho prc£e~it champion of tho Dominion. The letter stated that the Northern Boxing Association wero supporting the protest. Hcgarty is an exAustralasian feather-weight champion, but has never proved himself in tho lightweight division. Mr. Day moved that tho team for tho Australasian championships should, in tho opinion of this association, be selected from the competitors at tho New Zealand championships, unless there nre exceptional circumstances. The _ motion was seconded and carried unanimously. It was decided to forward copies: of thq resolution to the Taranaki Boxing Association and tho New Zealand Boxing Council. , The Otago Association asked if B. Ellis, of Wellington, could meet Lcckie at the forthcoming tourney in Dnnedin. It was decided to ask the association to name the date of the tourney before the matter could be decided.

Tho lo.tcr stated that the report was a garbled, untrue version of tho proceedings, apparently furnished by a membor of the committee with the object of causing friction between tho council and tho association. Tho New Plymouth Association protested against the selection of Hagcrty to re.prtsont tho Dominion at Brisbano in preference to Maxwell. The council decided that as the Selection Coinmittto had a free hand it was unable to interfere, .fno Wanganui Association wanted permission to match Tracy and Gault for tho lightweight professional championship, lho Christcliurch Club wished to match Mitchell and Ryan, heavy-weights.
