SHANNON. Tho Winter Garten Fete, organised in aid of tho funds of the local Methodist •Church, took place on Friday and Saturday last, and was in every way success, ful. On Friday the chief item oi in erest was the cantata "Loot and the Fairies." There wos a large attendance on Saturday morning in thf- Druids' Hpll, the chief attraction bdng the aprenranre of the Wereroa Boys' Training Farm brass band. Mr. Maiden subsequently thanked Major BuriiiiEon and his assistant, officers and the performers wore loudly cheered. Messrs. Sniiuders, Clayton, Tilling, Bovis, Marshall, and Hayes took part in a "camplive" entertainment, and woro heartily applauded for their performance.. Mesdames Saunders, Gibson, Judd, Carter, Bateman, Kcw, Misses Newth, Sargent, Henderson, and Messrs. Maiden, Saundtrs, Judd, an<] Gibson were amongst thoss who nwisted to make the feto a success..
