A Petone Wedding, On August 23, the wedding of Miss Ethel JonevS, second daughter of Mr. and MrsW. H. Jones, of Fitzherbert Street, Pβtone, to Mr. Arthur Harnior, only son of Mr. F. • Hanner, Susses, England, was celebrated at St. David's Church, Petone. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, woro a pretty frock ol cream lnstre, trimmed with silk laco and miction, and tibo customary veil and wreath of orange blossoms. Her bouquet was of inajn-olias and maiden-hair forn. She was attended by Miss Lily Jones, wearing a croam frock and black velvet hat. and Miss Constance Jones, in a white embroidered frock and black hat. and also by tho Misses Myrtle and Jessie Jones, in white embroidered frocks and blue rashes. The older bridesmaids carried pretty shower bouquets, and the younger baskets cf flowers. AJr.'F. Ryan 'was the best man, and Mr. Herbert Jones groomsman. After the - ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. A. Thomson, a reception was held at St. Augustine's Hall, the usual toasts bein.? honoured. Private Dance. At a recent executive meeting' of ■ the Wellington Orphans' Club, at which Dr. Izard presided, it was unanimously resolved to hold the club's ladies' night in the Sydney Street Hall on September 23 nest. The secretary reported that he had received, a number of applications for tickets and, in view of the large demand, it was. proposed to limit the issue of the tickets to the requirements of tho hall. A special committee has been set up. to make all arrangements, and n unique programme for the entertainment of the ladies is to be promoted. The next meeting of "Orphans" takes place on Saturday night, and Sir. E. J. Filzgibbon will preside. An., "excellent programme . .has been arranged.

Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Nelson (Woodville) are' visiting Wellington. Mrs. Alick Williams (St. Lawrcnco) is staying with her mother, Mrs. Cooper, at Karon. Mrs. Sutton, Napier, is spending a dny or two in town on her way to Christchurch. Miss Mace (Brainmerton) is a visitor tv> Wellington, and is tho guest of Mrs. West. Tho many friends of Mrs. B. P. Gardiner will be pleased to lenrn that she U progressing favourably at Miss Lucas's private hospital, Willis Street, from her serious illness. ■ Miss Vera Tayior and the Misses Simpj son are visiting Wanganui, and are the I guests of Mrs. Hammond.
