EMPIRE SPORTS COMMITTEE.
THE OLYMPIC GAMES. A meeting of the New Zealand Festival of Empire Sports Committee was held last evening,/ Mr. A. Jlarryatt presiding There wero als-o present: Messrs. B. R Keesing, G. S. Hill, J. H. Pollock, A. Da vies, and B. A. Guise (lion, secretary). A letter was received from the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association suggesting that.the Kcw Zealand Festival of Empire Committee should form itself into a committee to deal with New Zealand affairs at-the Olympic Games. A motion by Mr. A. Davies was carried as follows.—"That the Festival of Empire. Committee, acting on the above sug-g-sstion, form itself into an Olympic Sports Committee, pro tem, with a view to conferring with tho various bodies governing sports interested in the formation of a permanent Olympic Games Committee.
After discussion, Mr. Pollock moved: "That tho chairman, Jlr. Hill, and secretary be a comraitteo to draft a letter to all governing sports bodies interested in the. next --Olympic Games."

Private Samuel Parker, of tlio Royal Marino Light Infantry, a member of the National Rifle Association staff, was accidentally rliot on the Bislcy ranges on July 5. Ho was placing targets in position, when ho sot, in Ihfl line of fire, and a bullet strunfc him in tbo chest. Ho dietl shortly afterwards.
