MONTHLY BUSINESS. The Harbour Board held ifs monthly meeting h-t evening. Mr. I?. Fletcher presiding. Tho mem hers present were: Messrs. l>. C. JYoetii, ,T. E. Fjteerald, M. Cohen, J. G. Harkness .T. W. M'Ewon, J. Trevor, C. W. .Tones, K. C. Rentier, H. C. Towslny. C. E. DaniMl. A. M'F.irlane. J. G. Cobbe, and A. H. TTimlmaHi. The chairman reported that the payments fnr the month had totalled ,£18,523. Tho Wharves- and Account? Committee recommended the board tn deduct tho sum of X2OO from moneys duo to the contractors under Contract Xo. 101 (a X"w South AVales firm for whom Messrs. J. TV. Wallace, Victoria Street. Wellinglon, avo the local agents) as lir/uidnted damages for tho late delivery of hardwoods. An amendment, lo make tho sum ,£IOO. moved by Mr. Trevor, was defeated, and the reconiondiitiou adonted. It was decided to call a special meolintf of tho board io frame remits for the Harbour Boards' Conference.
