In a recent is*ue of the "Arc" it was stated Hint Mr. Buehanau had contributed ,£2OO towards the. Caledonian .Society's Pipe Band. Only a few weeks back tins same gentleman made, a contribution of J;42no towards the erection of a home for incurables in the Wairarapa, A year or two ago Jlr. Buchanan oft'vred an experiment farm worth somo thousands of pounds to the Government. He hits also contributed largely to religious and social organisations, and there are hundreds of private benefactions (standing to his credit which v.-ill never bo known, It is fortunate for (lie Wairarapu that it has in its midst n gentleman I who, besides giving his best services to the country, is so Rciierous and unassuming in his benefactions.
