August 23.—Slight frost; bright, fino day; N.W. breeze. August 23.—There waa a slight frost this morning, and a fine day followed. Another is expected to-night. Masterton, August 23—The Eev. A. Hodgo reported at 6 o'clock to-night for tho previous 24 hours as follows:—Shade temperature, maximum 60d0g., minimum 32.8deg., mean -46.4Ueg.; earth radiation, 28.9dcg., being 3.ldeg. frost; earth temperature, 48.2 deg.; -wiud, light air, W. The total rain this month to date is 7.2 points, as against 4.82 in July. The weather is quite clear; warm day; chilly night. Hastings, August 23.—ShaTP/ frost this ■morning was followed by a sunny day.
