ACCLIMATISATION.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE TO-JIORROW. Tho annual conference of delegates of the'-various acclimatisation societies of New Zealand will commence in Wellington to-morrow. At a recent meeting of the council of the Auckland Society, consideration was given to a proposal by the Wellington Society that a differential license for shooting and fishing should be instituted, and oversea visitors charged a higher rate than the residents oM.ho Dominion. The Auckland Society dccided to leave the delegates to act at their own discretion in this matter. Discretion in voting was also extended to the Auckland delegates in regard to a remit proposing that the shooting sea-son be reduced from three months to two. Amongst other remits from the various societies in New Zealand will be the following:— "That the vnrious societies shoiild work with tilie Government for the importation of game suitable for their district." ( . "That united action should be taken throughout the Dominion for the destruction of hawks and shags." "That a small lic.eii.se fee should be charged for shooting native game." "That the law should be altered to give rangers of one district legal standing in tho districts adjacent to their own, subject to the direction of the societies of thoso districts." "That licenses to, shoot imported game should be placed on a par with fishing licenses, and made applicable to tho whole Dominion; or else that licenses may be endorsed, upon payment of a small fee, and so extended in their application." "That the conference procure a definition of a lojjal fishing bait." "That the question of.. trout-netting should 'be considered with a view to having the regulations governing netting at tho mouths of rivers or estuaries repealed, owing to tho disastrous effects of netting upon angling, by the depletion of trout in tho rivers."
