CENTRAL MISSION.

"BLUE.TACKET DAY" AND ANNIVERSARY. Yesterday was a "Bluejacket" day at the Central Mission. In the morning Chief Petty Officer AYelsh delivered ail address at the Herbert Street Hall, and Chief Gunner Williams took the service at the Webb Street Primitive,' Methodist | Church. In the evening tho' combined j Central Mission and Challenger Bands, a body of instrumentalists over 50 strong, marchod down Cuba Street and along Manners Street to tho Now Theatre. Hundreds of spectators followed in the wake of the band. The theatre was quickly crammed to its full capacity, and an overflow meeting had to be hold in the Herbert Street Hnll, where an ail-di-e.-s was delivered by Chief Gunner AVilliams. At tho New Theatre an address was delivered by Chief Potty Officer Welsh. Mis. Lewis contributed a solo, and Mr. Protheroo, a vocal item in which ho was assisted by the Central Mission Quartet Party. On Friday last the tenth anniversary reunion of tho Central Mission was held in the Herbert Street Hal!. Mr. B. Tonks presided. It was exactly ten years to a 1 day oil Friday since the Central Mission was inaugurated, and some interesting reminiscence*; came to light during tho evening. The hymns selected for the occasion were I how which lmd been sung at tho first Mission _service, and eight bandsmen, who were in the Central Mission Band at its inception, played "Jerusalem," tho soloolion played by tho band at its first public appearance, ten years previously. The bandsmen were: Messrs. Monerielf, Mooro, Amies, and five brothers ' earned Baker, Messrs. Mooro and Tonks told some interesting stories of the Mission in its early days, and addresses wore also delivered by the Uov. E. 0. Blamires and Mr. Welsh.
