OBITUARY.

CANOX C. E. BROOKE. The Rev. Charles Edward Brooke, vicar of .St. John tho Divino, Konnington, and Honorary Canon of Southward Calhodral, died on July 2. Canon Brooke (says tho "Morning Post") was educated at University College. Oxford, and was ordained iu. 1871 to a curacy at tho'church, with which ho was associated throughout his clerical career, and in 18S1 became vicar of the parish. Whilh still enrato he mot from his own purse, tho greater part of tho cost of erecting (he present church, a. large, beautifully-decorated, Gothic building, and in later years he built an excellent church hall and contributed generously .towards the provision of schools in his parish. Canon Brooke was -an advanced Churchman, n,nd his earnest'preaching and tho ritualistic services drew largo'.<jingTPgations to }>t". John's.
