LONDON CONFERENCE.
i MANAGERS ACCEPT PROPOSALS. BUT THE MEN REFUSE. London, August 17. Tho railway managers and tho railway men's representatives conferred separately at tho Board of Trade. The Prime Minister (Mr. Asquith) attended the railway men's meeting. Tho delegates declined tho Government's offer of an immediate Royal Commission to inquire into.the grievances respecting the working of the Conciliation' Board. -> The managers accepted, the offer. ' JJr. Asquith warned tho railway men of the consequences of their refusal. At the conference tho executives of the railway men's unions introduced a new feature, demanding tho reinstatement of all men locked out before discussing terms for settlement of the railway men's claims.
