STEAMER OF OVER 13,000 TONS. (By TclecrapU-Press Association.! Dunedin, August 18. Particulars have, been received locally of a new steamship which lias been, ordered by the Union Steamship Company from Messrs. John Drown ond Compauy, of Clydebank, Scotland. Her dimensions will bo as follow;— Gross tonnage, between 13,000 and 14,000; length, 552 ft. Gin.) beam, CGft. She will have ten boilers, and will be, capable of maintaining a speed of 17. knots at sea fully loaded. The methods of propulsion will bo by the Kamo combination of engines (turbines and reciprocating engines) as have been adopted for the Orama, the latest Orient liner, and for the. White Star Company's Olympic, and which have- been proved to bo the best that marine engineers have yet evolved. Her passenger accommodation will be modelled in accordance with latest developments, provision bciiijj made for about 800 passengers, 300 first-class, 230 second-class, and 250. third-class. There will also bo provision for extra, accommodation in times of heavy traffic. The hew liner is for tho Vaucouver-Auckland-Sydney service, the contract for wliich lasts five years. She is to bs completed in 15 months, ond will be, the largest steamer owned south of the' Lino,
