Tlie following hockey players havo been selected to represent Nelson against Wellington for the shield at Day's Bay next Saturday:— Goalkeeper, A. Ryder (Motueka); full-backs, left, V. Bradley (Nelson), right, It. Giblin (Stoke); halves, left, Kvorett (Motueka), .centre, Lo Mottco (Motuclcn), right, R. Ileslep (Nelson); forwards, left-wing, Stratton (Wai Mai), inside, Hurst (Nelson), centre, Whitwell (Wai Mai), inside, lirodie (Nelson), right wing, Jackson (Wai Mai); reserve, V. Webley (Vciltrnl). Tho team will leave Nelson on the 23rd, and piny Marlboroiigh on their way to Wellington. Mr. IJnrford has been appointed inn linger. A Nelson writer says that from all accounts tho selection is a good one. There have been stronger representative (earns in the past, but this present is about the best available. The forwards arc a fast lot, and should they combine successfully will no doubt prove an effective vanguard. Tho half-lino is a strong one; th& full-backs, though inexperienced in interprovincial matches, should make- a good showing; I and Ryder in ucal should fill ths bill,
