. VHERETAUNGA BOATING CLUB. Tho annual social and danco in connection with the Heretaunga Boa tin" Club was held m the Drill Hall on Wcd° liesday .night. There were about forty couples present. The hall was prettily decorated with nautical emblems and club colours, whilst at the head of the supper table was a large painting of the harbour. Messrs. Hartley nnd Denby were M.C. s, nnd Miss Colquhoun pJaved an extra. Amongst the many pretty dresses worn were-Mrs. J. Macdonald. black silk; -Mrs. (.olqunonn, black silk; Sirs. Ferguson, white eharmeuse with overdress of spangled net; Mrs. Martin, whito silk; Miss Colquhoun, white muslin, satin band; Miss IC. Broeklebauk, white embroidered muslin; .Miss Barber, whito muslin: Miss Johnson, while silk with overdress of whito ninon; Mrs. Burn, black silk; Miss Drumiuond, pink; Miss Haye, green silk; .Miss Beynon, heliotrope silk; Miss Kcvoll, white silk; Miss •V. Revolt, black velvet ; Miss. Walker, blue; Mrs. .l'latt. black silk; Miss Damant, heliotrope eharmeuse; Miss Gower, whito silk, with.silver trimmings; Miss Woollelt, cremo radianla with pesrl trimmings; Mrs. Jiiddell, black velvet; Miss Eiddoll, pin muslin. AMBULANCE VAN FUND.' The controllers of tho Petono ambulance van are financially in a much better position than they were a few month's ago. The latest sum handed ill (over ,£'l 7s. 2d.) was from a party of Petone boy.s, and was the proceeds of open-air concerts. This week a fancy costume football match was plavod on the local recreation ground and iudging by tho large assembly present, "the fund should be materially increased.
ITis Excollcncy the Governor will present the prizes to successful scholars in !ho Sundav School Union's examination (o-nighi; in fit. .lolm's Church. The examiners will present (lie certificates. Choruses and action songs will lie rendered bv diildren trained by Mr. Ernest Dawson, and Mr. E. .1. Sounders, M.A., will deliver an address.
