Before disbanding, the Inter-State Labour Conference, which has been sitting ill Brisbane, took the initial steps for creating a central authority,- reprcSenti ng theindustrial unions of the Commonwealth, _ to deal with disputes likely to involve other unions than tho one of origin. A hitch has occur red in the sugar settlement. The waterside workers at Mackay decline to work with non-unionists, and have notified that unless the nonunionists aro removed by noon to-day work on all the wharves will cease. - A WATERSIDE TROUBLE. (Rec. August IS, 0.50 a.m.) Brisbane, August 17. Contrary to tho union secretary's advice, the waterside workers have refused to work owiug to the presence of nonunionists, whom the company ■ has declined to withdraw. A conference is being arranged.
