Messrs. Bills, Moore, and Carpenter have purchased the Otaki store, Mr. Ernest Brown .tho Waikanae branch, Mr. J. H. Andrew tho business at Manakau, and Messrs. Sheargold and Thomas the" Ohan shop. These will how be under distinct management, and will have no connection with each other. • Mr. Brown intends ultimately to engage iu farming and stockdealing, but will first see his proposed election campaign through. Tho funeral of the late Mr. H. F. Eagar took place yesterday afternoon, and was laTgely attended, the cortege including Mr. Field, M.P., Mr. P. C. Jones (chairman of Road Board), .Messrs. Tompsitt, Rollo, and Freeman (ex-chairman), and representatives of various businesses and religions denominations. Prior to leaving the homestead Ensign Hart conducted a. very impressjve service, while at the gravesidp the Rev. Mr. Smith officiated.
