VICTORIA COLLEGE.
MEETING OF TEE COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of the Victoria College Council was held last, evening, there being present:—The chairman (Mr. C. Wilson), the liev. W. A. Evans, and Messrs. A. T. Maginnity, J. G. W. Aitken, H. P. Von Hnast, C. Watran, J. Graham, M.P., E. M'Nab, and H. D, .Bell. According to tho monthly statement of finances tho credit balanco, after providing for prospective payments totalling ,£845 is. 6d., amounted to .£1839 Os. 10d. The College Tennis Club asked that a sum of ,£2l odd, oost of part of the tennis court fence, bo paid by the council. It was decided that tho application could not be entertained. ' On the recommendation' of the ProfcsForial Board, it was agreed that a publib demonstration, illustrating tho scope of the work of the science'department of tho college, should be arranged, provided that the cost does not exceed £i. In a noto of apology for nau-atlondanoe at the council meeting, Mr. It. M'Callum, referring to his account for his travelling expenses (.£ls), in connection' with tho meetings of the oouncil, suggested that if tho registrar would post him a. receipt for the amount, ho would sign it, donating ' the amount to tho College Building Fund, a contribution which should also be supplemented by the Government subsidy. The council received Mr. M'Cnlrum's suggestion with tho heartiest appreciation. Another donation, accepted with thanks by the council, was received from tho Now Zoalaiid Dental Association. The annual conference of that body wns held in the college building during th? terms recess, and in token of the courtesy _ extended the association by the Cokege ■ Council, a e-lteqw for .£lO 10s. was forwarded as a contribution to the College library fund.
