TRAIN SERVICES CURTAILED.
WITHIN THREE DAYS OF STARVATION. MANCHESTER'S POSITION. London, August 15. The Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants lias declared a general strike. The train services at Crewe, Leicester, and other centres have been curtailed. Many transport workers in Birmingham have struck, likewise the porters in tho goods departments at Chester, Sheffield, Rotlieram, Warrington, and Bristol; tho shunters and deckers at Avonmouth; the carmen at Bath and Bristol; and tho majority of engine-drivers at Stockport. Twelve hundred platelayers and surfacemen on tho North British railway, in the west of Scotland, havo ceased work. Five hnndrod railwayman, at tho docks at Manchester, with tho Great Northern goods inen and tho Great Northern and Midland van mon, havo struck. A local merchant declares that Manchester is within three days of starvation. The Millers' Association of Liverpool declares thero is serious risk of famine at 'Liverpool ■ and Birkenhead.
