POSITION IN LONDON.
NO GENERAL RESUMPTION OF WORK, A NEW COMPLICATION. London, August 14. There has been no general resumption of work in London, owing to the Port of London Authority- dismissing 400 permanent men for striking. The Port Authority has now promised to consider the question of reinstating the dismissed men as a condition of a generalresumption of work, but has declined a request on behalf of the Surrey Commercial Dock porters to reopen tho question of payment for meal time.
Tho situation in connection with the railway carmen is critical. Tho goode drivers and porters at Paddington Station, tho London terminus of the Great Western Hailway, are idle.
Tho London County Council tramway men will strike on Wednesday, unices their wages arejidvanced, with an eighthour day. The situation at ! mold is normal, but the butter busing has not been resumed. Tho irharf'labourers are still out. Many women tea-pickers havo Struck in London. Tho factory women at Bermondsey have held meetings, and demand improved pay. NORMAL CONDITIONS IN A FEW DAYS. WOMEN ON STRIKE. (Eec. August 15, 11.45 p.m.) London, August 15. Mr. Gosling, secretary oi tne- iiuusport Workers' Federation; states that the men are resuming\gradually and that dock work will be normal again in a few days. Fifteen thousand women strikers in.the factories in' South London havo obtained au advance of from a shilling to four shillings weekly.
